Somatic Therapy is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the deep connection between the mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which centers on thoughts and behaviors, somatic therapy explores how emotions and experiences are stored within the body. By tuning into physical sensations, somatic therapy can help release stored stress, tension, or trauma that may manifest as discomfort, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm.
Our bodies often store memories and emotions that our minds may not fully process, which can lead to physical symptoms. Including somatic therapy in sessions can help you connect with your body and its sensations.
Sessions are tailored to your specific needs, helping you gently explore the connection between your emotions and bodily sensations.
Here’s what you can expect in a typical session:

Yes — online counselling offers the flexibility to connect from anywhere and fits more easily into a busy schedule. Sessions are offered through Jane App, a secure video platform compliant with Canadian healthcare privacy laws.
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I require a minimum of 24 hours' notice. This allows me the opportunity to offer the time to another client who may be waiting for services.
Life is full of unexpected events, and sometimes cancelling a session is unavoidable. To respect both your time and mine, and to keep my practice consistent and fair for everyone, I have the following policy in place:
Please send cancellations by email to bethany@soulflowtherapy.com or through your Jane account, so the timing is clear for both of us.
Cancellation fees are charged to the card you have on file, unless you've arranged another payment method with me. You'll receive an invoice by email. Because a cancellation fee isn't a counselling session, it isn't reimbursable through extended health benefits — your Jane receipt will show it as a cancellation.
If paying a cancellation fee would create real financial difficulty for you, please tell me. I'd rather hear about it than have it sit between us, and I can reduce the fee to $50. You don't need to explain the circumstances.
Thank you for supporting these guidelines. They're what allow me to offer a consistent, fair and caring practice for all of my clients.
Yes, I offer complimentary phone consultations to help you determine if we’re a good fit. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions and learn more about my approach.
Please do not attend in-person counselling sessions if you have a cough, fever or have recently been sick. Please reschedule after you’ve been symptom-free for seven consecutive days. Cancellation fees are waived due to the sudden onset of illness.

Not at all. There is no experience required as art therapy is about the process rather than the product of your creation. Exploring creatively is more about the feelings that you have during your journey rather than what the image looks like at the end.
Most extended health plans in BC cover the services of Registered Clinical Counsellors. Refer to your plan manual or call the insurer and they will be able to assist you.
If you have coverage, you will be required to pay me directly in full for your session, and then submit your receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement.
The number of sessions varies depending on your unique situation and goals. Some individuals may find relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. We’ll discuss your needs and tailor the frequency of sessions to your progress and comfort.
Great question! Art Therapy is a therapeutic modality that explores incorporating the use of art and working through the creative process. This allows people to reach deeper levels of healing beyond talk therapy alone. Working with art can help empower individuals to express themselves without the use of words to facilitate healing.
Somatic Therapy is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that taps into the mind-body connection. By tuning into physical sensations, Somatic Therapy can help process thoughts, feelings, and emotions that can turn up as stored stress, tension and trauma in the body.
Drawing from Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) and Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy techniques, I guide you in tuning into physical sensations and emotions. By gently navigating these sensations, you can release tension and foster a greater sense of ease and awareness in your body.
The first session is focused on getting to know each other, understanding your concerns, and establishing your goals for therapy. We’ll explore what brought you here and discuss how counselling can support your needs.
